Sponsorship Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to define how sponsorship funds are solicited, received, distributed, and managed within Warlords Hockey Academy (WHA). This policy ensures transparency, fairness, and consistency while supporting both individual players and team-level programming.

Types of Sponsorships

WHA recognizes two categories of sponsorships:

  1. Individual Player Sponsorship

  2. Team Sponsorship

Each category has a defined purpose and allocation structure.

1. Individual Player Sponsorship

Definition

An Individual Player Sponsorship is a sponsorship secured specifically to support a named player. These sponsorships are intended to assist with that player’s hockey-related expenses for the season.

Use of Funds

Individual sponsorship funds may be applied toward:

  • Player registration fees

  • Team fees as approved by WHA

  • Hockey-related expenses associated with participation in WHA programs

Fund Allocation

  • 75% of the sponsorship funds will be allocated to the named player

  • 25% of the sponsorship funds will be retained by Warlords Hockey Academy

The association’s portion supports administrative costs, insurance, program operations, and ongoing development initiatives.

Restrictions

  • Individual sponsorship funds are not refundable

  • Funds may not be withdrawn as cash

  • Funds cannot be transferred to another player

  • Sponsorship does not guarantee roster placement, ice time, or playing status

2. Team Sponsorship

Definition

A Team Sponsorship is a sponsorship secured to support a specific WHA team or program rather than an individual player.

Use of Funds

Team sponsorship funds may be used for:

  • Team budget shortfalls

  • Tournament or showcase expenses

  • Additional ice time or development opportunities

  • Team equipment, apparel, or approved expenses

Fund Allocation

  • 75% of the sponsorship funds will be allocated to the team

  • 25% of the sponsorship funds will be retained by Warlords Hockey Academy

The association’s portion supports operational costs and ensures consistent program standards across all teams.

Restrictions

  • Team sponsorship funds are not refundable

  • Funds do not create individual player credits or refunds

  • Funds are applied for the benefit of the team as a whole

Sponsorship Management & Oversight

  • All sponsorship funds must be processed through WHA

  • WHA reserves the right to approve sponsor suitability

  • Sponsorship funds will be tracked separately for:

    • Individual player sponsorships

    • Team sponsorships

  • Allocation and use of funds will align with WHA financial policies

Branding & Recognition

Sponsorship recognition (logos, banners, apparel, digital media) must be approved by WHA to ensure alignment with league, facility, and branding guidelines.

Compliance & Governance

  • Sponsorships must comply with WHA values and conduct standards

  • WHA reserves the right to decline or terminate sponsorships that conflict with organizational values

  • Sponsorship does not confer decision-making authority or influence over team operations

Acknowledgment

By participating in sponsorship activities, players, families, and sponsors acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
