MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONERORHL
MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT
As the Ontario Rep Hockey League enters its 15th season, we are proud to announce a powerful evolution of our league structure. For the 2026–2027 season, the #ORHL will offer both a body-checking league and a non-body checking league, operating as distinct and dedicated divisions within our organization. This ensures families can choose the development path that best aligns with their player’s goals.
This decision follows extensive consultation with families, players, respected hockey leaders and organizations across Ontario, New York and existing ORHL Club Owners. The conclusion was clear: this model best serves player development, competitive balance, and long-term success.
Body checking will be introduced in the U11 Atom division, with a modified introduction-to-contact format at U9 Novice, ensuring safe, age-appropriate progression. At the same time, our current non-contact pathway will continue to thrive for families who prefer that style of play. Both pathways will receive equal commitment, structure, and visibility.
What has not changed is the ORHL’s commitment to excellence. Our league continues to lead with:
• Exceptional cost efficiency
• Consistent, on-time operations
• Strategic event locations close to city centers
• Highly regarded Showcases and Tournaments that create unforgettable experiences for players and families
The ORHL remains a league built on stability, professionalism, and memorable events—and we are confident that no matter which format your family chooses, the ORHL continues to offer one of the strongest platforms for youth hockey development.
2026-2027 Divisions and Birth Years:
Novice (U9): 2019/18
Atom (U11): 2017/16
Peewee (U13): 2015/14
Bantam (U15): 2013/12
Minor Midget (U17): 2011/10
Major Midget (U19): 2009/08
With 15 seasons of experience behind us and a clear plan, the ORHL moves forward with confidence and resolve. We look forward to welcoming back familiar faces and introducing new families to a league built on stability, opportunity, and competitive excellence.
